Gemerska Poloma Korruption-Skandal erreicht Parlament in Bratislava

Opposition comments on the huge lawsuit: How come the people who caused the whole issue still have their jobs? Ms Zemanová asks.
The mega-lawsuit Slovakia was served from the US EuroGas for rescission of the talc mining license in Gemer could end up costing us as much as 22 billion euros. Opposition MP Anna Zemonová of SaS does not understand how the persons who initiated the entire dispute are still serving at their key positions.
In the upcoming months, Slovakia will face lawsuit pertaining to rescission of license for talc mining in Gemer. Bringing the lawsuit is US corporation that will seek damages in amount of at least eight milliards (billion) Euros.
“We recently acquired evidence of greater extent of the talc deposit in Gemerská Poloma than we originally thought. Therefore we will seek larger damages in an amount from minimum 8 to possibily astronomic 22 billion Euros,” said EuroGas CEO Wolfgang Rauball.
The Slovak Minister of Finance Peter Kažimír bragged about Slovakia having won the arbitration already in August last year.
Reopening of the arbitration proceedings has then been mentioned in connection with the arrest of the former Minister of Economy, Mr Pavol Rusko. Back then Mr. Wolfgang Rauball stated he would like to examine this situation to point out certain facts as they confirm that EuroGas had lost its talc mining license in Gemerská Poloma on account of a corruption conspiracy.
“Pavol Rusko stood at the beginning of the entire dispute back in 2004 when he offered through intermediaries the Gemerska Poloma talc deposit – back then still owned by us – to Mondo Minerals in exchange for a five-million Euro bribe to his political party ANO,” Mr Rauball stated, also noting that he has a sworn affidavit from then Mondo Minerals CEO, Mr Wolfgang Keller, who had refused to listen to the bribe and brought the matter to his superiors. Opposition MP Ms Anna Zemanová of SaS also commented on the dispute, noting it had connotations deeper than meets the eye. “Covered by the media is the overall amount of EuroGas request for damages and the legitimacy of their seeking these through the investment treaty with the US. I would, however, like to point out to the beginning of the entire affair that ultimately caused the present situation in which Slovakia could certainly be forced to pay many millions of Euros, and if we lose, perhaps billions of Euros,” Ms Zemanová says and notes that the entire situation has been brought about by the illegal decision of the regional mining office in Spišská Nová Ves and the main mining bureau, under the leadership of Ing. Peter Kúkelčík and Ing. Antonín Baffi; so ruled by the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic back in 2013.
“The arbitration proceedings at this time concern the amount of the marred investment, although the claimant in their brief also points out no remedy has been provided in regard to the subject matter of the dispute, i.e. stipulation of the ownership of the talc deposit. I ask how come the persons who have initiated the entire dispute, are still serving at their positions? Has investigation been conducted and finished in regard to alleged corruption practices of said heads of the mining authorities, if so, with what outcome? How come that the main mining bureau ignores the ruling of the Supreme Court and new proceedings in this regard has not been initiated?” wonders the MP for the strongest opposition party.

Megažaloba, ktorá čaká Slovensko od americkej firmy EuroGas za odobratie licencie na ťažbu mastenca na Gemeri, nás môže stáť až 22 miliárd eur. Opozičná poslankyňa z SaS Anna Zemanová nechápe, ako je možné, že ľudia, ktorí celý spor vyvolali, sú ešte stále vo vedúcich pozíciách.

Slovenskú republiku čaká v najbližších mesiacoch žaloba za odobratie licencie na ťažbu mastenca na Gemeri. Zažalovať sa nás chystá americká spoločnosť, ktorá bude žiadať minimálne osem miliárd eur.
„Nedávno sme získali dôkazy o väčšom rozsahu ložiska v Gemerskej Polome, ako sme si doteraz mysleli. Preto sa náš nárok bude pohybovať v rozmedzí od osem až do astronomických 22 miliárd eur,“ povedal predseda predstavenstva spoločnosti EuroGas Wolfgang Rauball.
Minister financií Peter Kažimír sa pritom už v auguste minulého roka chválil, že Slovensko arbitráž vyhralo.
Obnovenie arbitráže sa spomínalo v súvislosti so zatknutím a vyšetrovaním bývalého ministra hospodárstva Pavla Ruska. V tom čase sa Wolfgang Rauball vyjadril, že chcú túto situáciu využiť na poukázanie na určité súvislosti, pretože si myslia, že o licenciu na ťažbu mastenca v Gemerskej Polome prišli pre korupčný komplot.
„Pavol Rusko stál na začiatku celej kauzy v roku 2004, keď ponúkal cez prostredníkov získanie ložiska mastenca, ktoré sme ešte držali, spoločnosti Mondo Minerals za úplatok päť miliónov eur pre svoju politickú stranu ANO,“ uviedol Rauball s tým, že má k dispozícii čestné vyhlásenie vtedajšieho predsedu predstavenstva Mondo Minerals Wolfganga Kellera, ktorý túto podmienku odmietol a prípad nahlásil nadriadeným. V septembri 2016 vypovedal pod prísahou pred zástupcom vlády USA. Ako je možné, že tí, čo spor vyvolali, sú ešte stále vo vedúcich pozíciách?
K celej záležitosti sa vyjadrila aj opozičná poslankyňa za Slobodu a Solidaritu Anna Zemanová, podľa ktorej má celá kauza oveľa hlbšie súvislosti. „V médiách skôr rezonuje výška požiadaviek EuroGasu a oprávnenosť ich uplatňovania cez investičnú dohodu s USA. Ja chcem však poukázať na začiatok kauzy, ktorý spôsobil súčasnú situáciu, ktorá v konečnom dôsledku určite bude Slovensko stáť milióny eur, a možno, ak prehráme, tak aj miliardy eur,“ hovorí Zemanová a pripomína, že spor vyvolalo nezákonné rozhodnutie Obvodného banského úradu v SNV a Hlavného banského úradu pod vedením Ing. Petra Kúkeľčíka a Ing. Antonína Baffiho, o čom rozhodol Najvyšší súd SR ešte v roku 2013.
„Arbitráž sa v súčasnosti vedie o výške škody zmarenej investície, i keď v podaní žalobca namieta aj to, že stále nebola náprava v merite veci, teda určenie vlastníctva ložiska. Ja sa pýtam, ako je možné, že tí, čo spor vyvolali, sú ešte stále vo vedúcich pozíciách? Ako dopadlo a bolo už ukončené vyšetrovanie ohľadom podozrenia na korupciu spomínaných prednostov banských úradov? Ako je možné že HBU ignoruje rozhodnutie najvyššieho súdu a nezačalo nové konanie?“ čuduje sa poslankyňa najsilnejšej opozičnej strany.
